She Loves Me – From July 28th (opening night Gala with Wine & cheese at intermission) through August 12, 2018 with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 pm and Sunday shows at 2:30 pm. With music and lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff this musical theater masterpiece is guaranteed to delight! Based on a play by Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo and with several film incarnations (The Shop Around the Corner, The Good Old Summertime and You’ve Got Mail) the musical is set in 1930’s Budapest and centers around shop co-workers Georg and Amalia who unbeknownst to themselves have become pen pals by answering a Lonely Hearts Club ad in the local newspaper. Truly an ensemble piece with funny and sometimes breathtaking numbers for each character, She Loves Me finds depth, longing and beauty in the everyday lives of the clerks at Maraczek’s Parfumerie.
She Loves Me was nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964. The 1993 Broadway revival won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the 1994 Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Many consider this to be the “perfect” romantic comedy musical and a Bock & Harnick gem filled with charm, romance and a hint of mystery. General Admission – $30 (Opening night Gala all tickets $35 with wine and cheese at intermission), Senior – $25, 15 yrs & under $10.
