Welcome to Clay & Wattles Theater Company.
We are a 501 (C) (3), performing arts/education nonprofit organization. Clay & Wattles Theater Company’s season runs from June through September with a season of plays and musical theater productions, cabaret and educational workshops in music, theater, dance and design featuring working professionals in each discipline. Our mission is to explore our humanity in its many and diverse expressions through the illuminating lens of the theater – the stage. We believe in the thread that links all of the arts – performing, fine, literary and visual together and the vital impact that they all have on our American culture.
Since 2007 the artistic direction of the theater company has been led by Sally and Thomas Camm. A native of Australia, Sally trained with both the Queensland Ballet and the Queensland Theater Company before touring Australia and Europe as a dance soloist and as an actor in Australia and London’s West End. She taught at Cornish College for the Arts in Seattle and has choreographed over twenty original works. Thomas Camm studied dance in Boston with David Shields from London’s Royal Ballet and as a scholarship student at the School of American Ballet in NYC. As a member of Actor’s Equity and The American Guild of Musical Artists he performed as a soloist in the US, Austria, Germany and Switzerland and as a featured performer in musicals, operetta and oratorio. He has taught at Cornish College for the Arts, the Usdan Center for the Performing Arts and for the National Endowment for the Arts-Artists in Education program.
Auditions are held each year and actors from the local community theater network, local colleges and universities and from Actor’s Equity audition for roles in our productions. Our audience is growing – 4,500-5,000 theatergoers attend performances each season and take advantage of the wonderful amenities our area has to offer.
Through its promotional and development activities the theater reaches out to local businesses and other funding sources that will help secure the financial stability of the theater into the future. For information on sponsorships and donations to the theater company please go to

Brief History – The Gary The Olivia Theater
Since 2007 Clay & Wattles Theater Company has performed at The Gary The Olivia Theater on the grounds of the Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT. The Gary The Olivia Theater has a rich history and is a place where professional and serious theater students alike come to perform, study and learn in a one-of-a-kind, transforming environment. Built in 1986 through the generous support of donors spearheaded by Oscar winning actress Patricia Neal and her close friend, Mother Dolores Hart, OSB, this roofed, open-air theater is surrounded by the lush Connecticut countryside and seats approximately 350 people.
The theater was named after two significant persons in the life of Patricia Neal – The actor Gary Cooper and Patricia Neal’s daughter, Olivia.
The Clay & Wattles Theater Company strives to provide a space where performers can experiment and develop in their craft. Central to our mission is the act of collaboration – fostering relationships between all of the arts as we work together in painting the picture of the human person. We need each other!
